Every morning when my clock goes off, which is usually before the rest of the world is awake, I have a song in my head… Usually at full volume, full orchestration, all voices. Sometimes I hear original, new music and lyrics. Other times, like this morning, I hear parts of contemporary songs. Almost always, it’s what I need to hear.
This morning, as the birds wake up and I try to wake up, I hear Kutless doing “Strong Tower“ in my head.
You are my strong tower, shelter over me
Beautiful and mighty everlasting King
You are my strong tower, fortress when I’m weak
Your name is true and holy
And Your face is all I see
It’s like my spirit was singing these words to God before I even woke up this morning! I never get over the truth that even in my sleep, I am praising The Lord and giving Him my heart. Oh, how I want these words to ring true in my life!!
Proverbs 18:10 says “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.” So the question I’m asking myself this morning is whether I am running FROM something or running TO Jesus. Running to the strong tower of God’s true and holy name. My shelter, my fortress, my rock, and my salvation.
