Come as You Are

I have a blue 3 x 5 index card on my desk with Isaiah 30:21 written on it. “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'” I don’t remember when I wrote this particular verse out, but I know I wrote it down so I could try to memorize it… Hide it in my heart. Keeping it (or any other verse, for that matter) in my head isn’t the problem. How do you memorize with your heart?

The words in my head this morning are from Crowder’s new song, Come as You Are. “Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal.” I mentioned yesterday how melancholy and sad I felt… And the only way for me to “snap out of it” was to get alone with God. I just got busy in my studio with a project, and gave it all to Him. “Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can’t heal.” I have no sadness that heaven can’t fix. The lyrics:

Come out of sadness from wherever you’ve been
Come broken hearted let rescue begin
Come find your mercy
Oh sinner, come kneel

Earth has no sorrow
That Heaven can’t heal

So, lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer, come home
You’re not too far
So, lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are

There’s hope for the hopeless
And all those who’ve strayed
Come sit at the table
Come taste the grace
There’s rest for the weary
Rest that endures

Earth has no sorrow
That Heaven can’t cure

Come as you are
Fall in His arms
Come as you are

There’s joy for the morning
Oh sinner, be still

Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal

I must listen to that voice in my heart, the voice saying, “This is the way, walk in it.” It will never steer me wrong. He will never point me in a direction that will take me away from Him.

If I hide his words in my heart, he will guide me where I need to go. I think memorizing with my heart comes with love and time. The best use of life is love. The best gift of love is time. The best time to love is now.
